Handcrafted Concrete Construction

The Cubo is handmade by Crete Design in Wisconsin. Its concrete construction provides a substantial architectural appearance while retaining the natural surface characteristics associated with handcrafted concrete.

Because each piece is individually made, Crete Design specifies that measurements may vary by up to 1/2 inch from the listed dimensions.

Square Fire Bowl Design

The Cubo's square profile provides a defined geometric centerpiece for outdoor seating areas. It is available in three sizes to accommodate different installation spaces and design requirements.

Available Sizes

  • Large: 42" × 42" × 16"
  • Medium: 36" × 36" × 16"
  • Small: 30" × 30" × 16"
  • Measurement Tolerance: Up to 1/2" due to handcrafted construction

Concrete Color and Texture Options

The Cubo is available in a selection of concrete colors and surface finishes. Current options include:

  • Pewter

Finish Options

Board-Formed: A concrete finish that captures the grain and texture of wooden formwork.

Chiseled: A hand-worked texture with fractured and chipped surface characteristics.

Fractured Ripple: A vertically textured finish with hand-fractured ridges that create variation in light and shadow.

Hand-Packed GFRC: A tactile finish featuring intentional surface variations associated with hand-shaped concrete.

What's Included

  • Cubo Concrete Fire Bowl in the selected size and finish
  • Compatible Warming Trends brass burner
  • Selected decorative aggregate
  • Appropriate installation kit for the selected burner configuration

Installation

The Cubo uses a gas burner system and should be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions and applicable local gas and building codes.

Professional installation is recommended, particularly for natural gas connections. Before installation, confirm required clearances, fuel connections, ventilation, and other site-specific requirements for the selected configuration.

Care and Maintenance

Crete Design recommends cleaning its concrete products with mild soap. The concrete should not remain wet for extended periods, and the manufacturer recommends covering the product when rain is expected. Allow the concrete to dry before covering it.

Excessive heat may cause concrete to crack. Crete Design recommends using only burner systems appropriate for its products and advises against operating the burner above 65,000 BTUs for more than one hour at a time.

Natural characteristics such as spotting, hairline cracking, efflorescence, and surface scratches may develop as the concrete is exposed to outdoor conditions. These characteristics are associated with the material and normal outdoor use.

Handmade Variations

Every Cubo is individually handcrafted, so variations in concrete color, texture, surface character, and dimensions are expected. These differences are inherent to the manufacturing process and contribute to the individual appearance of each piece.

Custom Options

Crete Design offers custom color matching using Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams color codes. Custom configurations should be confirmed with Crete Design before ordering.
