Split-System Configuration
Unlike self-contained through-the-wall wine cellar cooling units, the WKSL 4000 uses separate evaporator and condenser components. The fan coil is installed in the wine cellar while the condenser can be positioned remotely. This configuration provides additional flexibility when planning a wine cellar and can help keep condenser-related heat and operating noise outside the storage area.
Sentry III+ Digital Controls
The Sentry III+ digital control system provides temperature monitoring and control for the wine cellar. The system supports a selectable operating range of 48°F to 63°F and includes a digital temperature display and high-temperature alarm.
Humidity Management
The WKSL 4000 includes automatic humidity management for wine cellar applications. Actual cellar humidity depends on factors such as insulation, vapor barrier construction, ambient conditions, door openings, and the characteristics of the cellar itself.
Remote Condenser Placement
The condenser can be installed up to 50 feet from the fan coil, giving installers additional flexibility when determining where the condenser should be located. Proper ventilation around the condenser is required for appropriate system operation.
Installation Requirements
The Breezaire WKSL 4000 is a split refrigeration system and requires installation by a qualified HVAC or refrigeration technician. Installation includes connecting the system components, refrigerant lines, control wiring, electrical connections, evacuation, and refrigerant charging as required.
The wine cellar should also be properly insulated and constructed with an appropriate vapor barrier. Cellar size, glass exposure, ambient temperature, door openings, and other heat-load factors should be considered when determining whether the 4,000-series system is appropriately sized.
Optional Bottle Probe
An optional Breezaire Bottle Probe is available for the WKSL 4000. The accessory provides temperature measurement at the bottle rather than relying solely on surrounding cellar air temperature.
Replacement Compatibility
The Breezaire WKSL 4000 is the direct replacement for the discontinued Breezaire WKS 4000 split-system cooling unit. Breezaire's replacement documentation identifies the WKSL 4000 as the split-system replacement for the WKS 4000.
