Breezaire WKL 8000 Wine Cellar Cooling Unit Sale price$4,347.00 Regular price$5,868.45

The Breezaire WKL 8000 Wine Cellar Cooling Unit is a self-contained, through-the-wall cooling system designed for properly insulated wine cellars up to 2,000 cubic feet. With 8,000 BTU of cooling capacity and an integrated Sentry III+ electronic control system, the WKL 8000 is designed for large residential wine cellars, custom wine rooms, and other appropriately constructed wine storage spaces.

The self-contained design integrates the cooling components into a single cabinet for through-the-wall installation. The standard configuration exhausts warm condenser air through the rear of the unit into an appropriately ventilated adjacent space.

Key Features

  • Designed for cellars up to 2,000 cubic feet: Intended for properly insulated and sealed wine storage spaces within the manufacturer's recommended capacity.
  • 8,000 BTU cooling capacity: Provides cooling capacity for large residential wine cellar applications.
  • Self-contained system: Cooling components are integrated into a single cabinet.
  • Through-the-wall installation: Designed to install through a properly prepared wall opening.
  • Sentry III+ electronic controls: Provides electronic temperature control with an LED digital display.
  • 50°F–60°F temperature range: Provides an adjustable operating range for wine cellar applications.
  • Automatic humidity management: The cooling system includes automatic humidity management as part of its operation.
  • Automatic defrost: Helps manage frost accumulation during operation.
  • Power interruption protection: Includes control-system protection associated with power interruptions.
  • Blocked-airflow protection: Includes a protective function for restricted airflow conditions.

Designed for Large Wine Cellars

The WKL 8000 is rated for wine cellars up to 2,000 cubic feet when the enclosure meets the appropriate insulation, vapor-barrier, sealing, ventilation, and installation requirements.

Actual cooling requirements depend on factors beyond cellar volume, including insulation quality, surrounding temperature, glass exposure, sunlight, door usage, ceiling height, and other heat loads. Proper sizing should therefore be confirmed for the specific installation, particularly when approaching the maximum recommended cellar capacity.

Sentry III+ Digital Temperature Control

The integrated Sentry III+ electronic controller provides digital temperature monitoring and adjustable settings. Its LED display allows the cellar temperature to be monitored directly from the cooling unit.

The control system also incorporates protective functions designed to help manage operating conditions, including features associated with power interruptions and restricted airflow.

Self-Contained Through-the-Wall Design

The WKL 8000 is designed as a self-contained cooling unit that installs through a suitable wall opening. This configuration does not require a separate remote condenser or field-installed refrigerant lines.

The condenser side releases warm air into the adjacent room. The exhaust area must therefore provide adequate ventilation and sufficient clearance to prevent warm air from recirculating back into the cooling system.

Installation Requirements

  • Properly insulated wine cellar walls and ceiling
  • Appropriate vapor-barrier construction
  • A properly insulated and sealed cellar door assembly
  • A suitable through-wall opening
  • A ventilated adjacent space for condenser exhaust
  • Clear airflow around the unit's intake and exhaust areas
  • Dedicated 115V, 60Hz electrical service with adequate capacity

The exhaust room should be capable of dissipating the heat produced by the cooling system. Avoid installations where warm condenser air can become trapped or recirculate into the unit.

Review the manufacturer's installation documentation and confirm the site requirements before installation.

Factory Modifications and Configuration Options

The WKL 8000 is available with several factory modification options for installations with specific routing requirements. Modified units are special orders and may have additional production lead times and different return or cancellation conditions.

  • Hot Air Out the Top (HAU): Routes condenser exhaust from the top rather than the standard rear configuration.
  • Cord Out the Back (COB): Routes the power cord through the rear of the unit for installations requiring alternate cord placement.
  • Cold Air Out the Top (CAT): Provides an alternate cold-air routing configuration.
  • Rear Drain Fitting (RDF): Provides a rear fitting for condensate drainage.
  • Black Aluminum Series: Special-order configuration with an aluminum cabinet and black finish.

Factory modifications may add production time and can affect cancellation and return eligibility. Confirm the selected configuration before ordering.

Optional Breezaire Bottle Probe

An optional Breezaire Bottle Probe is available for compatible WKL-series cooling units. The accessory is designed to monitor the temperature of the wine bottle rather than relying only on the surrounding cellar air temperature.

Care and Maintenance

Keep the unit's intake and exhaust areas clear of dust, debris, and other airflow obstructions. Periodically inspect the surrounding installation area to ensure adequate ventilation remains available.

Proper cellar insulation, sealing, and vapor-barrier construction should also be maintained. Follow the manufacturer's installation and maintenance instructions for additional service requirements.

Important Sizing Note

The stated capacity of up to 2,000 cubic feet assumes a properly constructed wine cellar and suitable operating conditions. Cellars with extensive glass exposure, direct sunlight, high surrounding temperatures, frequent door openings, inadequate insulation, or other significant heat loads may require a different cooling solution.

Before ordering, verify the cellar volume, construction, ambient conditions, electrical requirements, wall-opening dimensions, and available exhaust space to determine whether the WKL 8000 is appropriate for the installation.
