Breezaire WKL 2200 Wine Cellar Cooling Unit Sale price$2,437.00 Regular price$3,289.95

The Breezaire WKL 2200 Wine Cellar Cooling Unit is a self-contained, through-the-wall cooling system designed for properly insulated wine cellars up to 265 cubic feet. With a 2,200 BTU cooling rating and Sentry III+ electronic controls, it provides temperature management for residential wine storage applications without requiring a separate external condenser or refrigerant line set.

The WKL 2200 is designed for straightforward installation through a suitable wall opening, with the condenser side exhausting warm air into an appropriately ventilated adjacent space. Proper cellar insulation, vapor sealing, airflow, and unit sizing are important for achieving the intended operating conditions.

Key Features

  • For wine cellars up to 265 cubic feet: Designed for properly constructed residential wine storage spaces within the manufacturer's recommended capacity.
  • 2,200 BTU cooling capacity: Provides cooling capacity for small to medium residential wine cellar applications.
  • Self-contained design: Cooling components are integrated into one compact unit.
  • Through-the-wall installation: Designed to fit into an appropriate wall opening with the warm-air exhaust directed into a suitable adjacent space.
  • Sentry III+ digital controller: Provides electronic temperature control and a digital LED display.
  • Automatic defrost: Helps manage frost accumulation during operation.
  • Humidity management: The cooling process helps manage moisture within the cellar environment.
  • Airflow protection: Includes system protection features designed to respond to restricted airflow.

Wine Cellar Cooling for Up to 265 Cubic Feet

The WKL 2200 is rated for wine cellars up to 265 cubic feet when the enclosure meets the appropriate insulation, vapor barrier, ventilation, and installation requirements. Actual cooling performance can vary depending on ambient temperature, insulation, glass exposure, door usage, sunlight, and other heat loads.

For cellars near the maximum recommended capacity or spaces with substantial glass exposure or elevated surrounding temperatures, proper system sizing should be confirmed before purchase.

Sentry III+ Digital Temperature Control

The integrated Sentry III+ controller provides electronic temperature monitoring and adjustment through a digital LED display. The current product information lists an operating temperature range of 48°F to 63°F.

The controller also incorporates system protection features, including delayed operation following power interruptions and protection related to restricted airflow.

Self-Contained Through-the-Wall Design

The WKL 2200 combines the cooling system into a single cabinet, allowing it to be installed through a properly prepared wall opening. Unlike split systems, the installation does not require a separate remote condenser or field-installed refrigerant line set.

The condenser side releases warm air into the surrounding area. Adequate ventilation behind the unit is therefore essential. The installation space should allow sufficient airflow so warm exhaust air does not recirculate back into the cooling system.

Installation Considerations

  • Wine cellar should be properly insulated and vapor sealed.
  • Wall opening must accommodate the cooling unit and required clearances.
  • Warm-air exhaust area must have adequate ventilation.
  • Air intake and exhaust paths should remain unobstructed.
  • A suitable 115V electrical connection is required.
  • Installation should follow the applicable manufacturer instructions and clearance requirements.

The WKL 2200 is intended for indoor wine cellar applications. It is not intended to replace commercial refrigeration equipment or to cool uninsulated spaces.

Optional Factory Modifications

Depending on the selected configuration, Breezaire WKL 2200 units may be available with factory modifications for specific installation requirements. Options listed for the WKL series include alternate hot-air exhaust direction, power cord routing, cold-air routing, and rear drain fitting configurations.

Factory-modified units may have different production lead times and return or cancellation restrictions. Confirm the selected configuration before ordering.

Optional Bottle Probe

An optional Breezaire Bottle Probe is available for compatible WKL-series systems. The probe is designed to monitor bottle temperature rather than relying solely on the surrounding cellar air temperature.

Care and Maintenance

Keep the cooling unit's intake and exhaust areas free from dust, debris, and other airflow obstructions. Periodically inspect the installation area to ensure adequate ventilation remains available around the unit.

The wine cellar itself should also maintain proper insulation and vapor-barrier conditions. Follow the applicable installation and maintenance instructions for additional service requirements.

Important Sizing Note

The stated capacity of up to 265 cubic feet assumes a properly constructed wine cellar under suitable operating conditions. Cellars with large glass surfaces, direct sunlight, high surrounding temperatures, frequent door openings, or inadequate insulation may have greater cooling requirements.

Before ordering, verify the cellar volume, construction, ambient conditions, wall-opening requirements, electrical requirements, and available ventilation space to ensure the WKL 2200 is appropriate for the installation.
