The Arteflame Classic 40-Inch Fire Pit with Cooktop combines an outdoor fire pit, solid-steel griddle, and center grill grate in one versatile design. Built from CORTEN weathering steel, it uses a central wood or charcoal fire to create multiple cooking temperatures across the 1/2-inch solid-steel cooktop. When cooking is finished, the removable cooktop can be lifted away to enjoy the fire as an open fire pit.

Grill, Griddle & Fire Pit in One
The Arteflame 40 combines three outdoor cooking and entertaining functions in a single unit. Use the solid-steel cooktop for griddling and general cooking, use the center grate for direct-fire grilling, or remove the cooktop after cooking to enjoy the fire bowl as an open fire pit.
The removable cooktop allows you to transition between cooking and fire-pit use without tools.
Large 40-Inch Cooking Surface
The 40-inch design provides more than 1,250 square inches of cooking space. The large surface allows multiple foods to be prepared at the same time, with different areas of the cooktop naturally reaching different temperatures.
The solid steel surface can be used for foods such as meats, vegetables, seafood, eggs, pancakes, bacon, and other foods that may be difficult to prepare on conventional open grill grates.
Central Fire & Multi-Zone Cooking
Heat radiates outward from the center fire, creating a range of cooking temperatures across the steel surface. The center grill grate provides the highest-heat direct-fire cooking area, while the surrounding cooktop offers progressively lower temperatures toward the outer edge.
Arteflame lists the center grate at temperatures exceeding 1,000°F, while the solid cooktop develops lower temperature zones farther from the center. Actual cooking temperatures depend on fire size, fuel, weather, and how the fire is managed.
CORTEN Steel Construction
The fire bowl is made from CORTEN weathering steel and formed as a seamless spun bowl without welded seams. The material is designed to develop a natural weathered patina as it remains outdoors.
The patina will change in appearance over time as the steel reacts to outdoor conditions, giving each unit a naturally evolving finish.
From Cooking to Fire Pit
Once cooking is finished, the solid-steel cooktop can be removed to expose the fire bowl. This allows the same unit to function as an open fire pit for outdoor gatherings.
The fire bowl incorporates precision air openings in its base to help supply airflow to the fire from below.
Fuel & Gas Conversion
The Arteflame Classic 40 is designed for wood or charcoal. The fire bowl also includes a center opening sized for a 1-inch gas pipe, allowing the unit to be converted to gas by a qualified professional installer.
Any gas conversion should be performed by a qualified professional and completed in accordance with applicable local requirements.
Base Options
The Classic 40 can be configured without a base for suitable built-in installations or paired with a low Euro or low round base.
- No Base: Intended for appropriate built-in installations.
- Low Euro Base: Provides a raised fire-pit configuration.
- Low Round Base: Provides an alternative raised configuration.
Confirm the selected base configuration before installation, as dimensions and overall height vary by configuration.
Included Accessories
The standard 2-accessory configuration includes:

- Seasoning puck
Arteflame also offers larger accessory configurations. The 5-accessory package adds a side warming table, wood cutting and serving tray, and leather apron to the center grate and seasoning puck.
Cooking & Care
After cooking, scrape food residue and excess oil toward the center while the cooktop is still warm. Wipe the surface with a light coat of cooking oil to help maintain the seasoned steel surface and protect it from oxidation.
Once the unit has cooled completely, remove accumulated ash from the fire bowl. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners on the cooktop and treat the cooking surface similarly to seasoned cast iron.
Outdoor Placement & Safety
Use the fire pit outdoors on a suitable non-combustible surface such as concrete, brick, stone, or pavers. Keep the unit away from combustible structures and materials, and follow applicable local fire regulations and manufacturer safety instructions.
Do not place the fire pit directly on wooden or composite decking. Maintain appropriate clearance from siding, eaves, branches, furniture, and other combustible materials.
