The Arteflame Classic 40-Inch Fire Pit is a large outdoor fire bowl designed for gathering around a wood or charcoal fire. Made from a single piece of CORTEN weathering steel and formed without welds or seams, the 40-inch fire bowl develops a natural patina as it remains outdoors. Large 40-Inch Fire Bowl
With a 40-inch diameter, the Classic 40 provides a large central fire feature for patios, outdoor entertaining areas, gardens, and other suitable outdoor spaces.
The bowl's rounded, organic shape is formed through metal spinning, creating a seamless appearance without welded joints across the fire bowl.
CORTEN Weathering Steel
The Classic 40 is made from CORTEN steel, also known as weathering steel. When exposed to outdoor conditions, the surface develops a naturally changing patina that becomes part of the fire pit's appearance.
The patina can change in color and character over time as the steel reacts to its surroundings. This weathered finish is an intended characteristic of CORTEN steel rather than a coating applied to the surface.
Precision Airflow System
Ten precision 1-inch air openings are incorporated into the base of the fire bowl. These openings allow air to enter from below and support airflow through the fire.
Fire behavior will vary depending on the type and amount of fuel used, weather conditions, airflow, and how the fire is managed.
Base Options
The Classic 40 is available in several configurations to accommodate different installation and placement preferences:
- No Base: The fire bowl sits at approximately 12 inches high and can be used for appropriate built-in installations.
- Low Euro Base: Raises the fire bowl for a different seating and viewing height.
- Low Round Base: Provides an alternative raised configuration for outdoor placement.
Overall height and weight vary depending on the selected base configuration.
Outdoor Placement
Place the fire pit on a suitable stable, non-combustible surface such as concrete, brick, stone, or pavers. Keep the unit away from combustible structures and materials, and maintain appropriate clearance from buildings, overhangs, trees, furniture, and other outdoor furnishings.
Follow applicable local fire regulations and Arteflame's safety recommendations when selecting an installation location and operating the fire pit.
Fuel
The Classic 40 is designed for wood or charcoal. Use appropriate fuel and follow safe fire-management practices during operation.
Never leave an active fire unattended. Allow the fire and fire bowl to cool completely before handling or removing ash.
Care & Maintenance
After the fire has completely cooled, remove accumulated ash from the bowl. The CORTEN steel surface is intended to weather naturally, so the developing patina is part of the product's finish.
Avoid applying paint, sealants, or other coatings unless specifically recommended by Arteflame. The appearance of the CORTEN surface will naturally change as it weathers outdoors.
